I’m a big advocate for girls can do anything boys can. But being honest my eyes have been opened so much since having Junior. It could be a combination of being the second child and being a boy, but at age one (13 months for people who like counting months) he has given me soooooo many heart attacks. All but one incident have been since he started walking about 4 weeks ago. Missy not walking until she was one and a half I think gave her a little bit more sense.
Here are 10 signs for you to keep an eye out for:
Colour Complexion Change
I have no idea when or how, but at 9 months Junior appeared with a black eye. My friends laugh when I said “So Junior has his first eye”
Gymnast in the making
Jumpy Mac Jumpintin’ just can’t even climb off your lap with throwing himself down in a style any professional soccer player would aspire to. So while dismounting The Dad he ignored all warning signs of there being a rather large coffee table just below him and nutted himself on the edge. This was another one of those occasions where Junior was fine within about 2 mins of crying while I and The Dad were reaching for the whisky calm down!!!
Eating like the French
I LOVE sunny days, I love that since we added a raised flower bed in our garden the 2 ankle biters can dig and explore it. Missy even has her favourite digging hat.
The only rule is “don’t eat stones, dirt ….well anything”. Junior brings his haul from the flower bed into the kitchen floor, plops down and plays with some stones. Me there saying “ah ah, no out of your mouth“ A few minutes later I flung Junior out the back to clean the floor. And there is was, a poor, decapitated (or dehoused?!?!?!) snail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It might be clean but…….
Emptying the washing machine is a task that must be completed with swift movement from the machine to the counter to ensure Junior doesn’t find his way into the washing machine. Finishing off with a quick spin of the drum. Plop, plop, yep there it was, clean but lifeless. A poor slug found its way (I’m 100% blaming Junior) into the washing machine.
Seeing Missy in her Spiderman costume inspired Junior to let no height get in his way. So obviously, with me being his favourite, when I went to go downstairs without him, he lost the rag altogether. With the added advantage of his shoes for extra grip, he climbed the gate and was within a millisecond of flinging himself over. How, with The Dad and I standing right there, it happened I don’t know.
It’s hard in summer having to go to bed when the sun is still up and you can hear everyone else still outside. Not to worry, there’s a radiator right beside the window. You can just scale the radiator and you’re at the window sill, where the window is open because for once it’s so hot they are stuck open.
Yep, finally buying some window locks. Missy has, as a result of watching Junior, discovered the art of climbing.
When it rains it’s always a visit to the library. Books, colouring and some indoor space. They even have a book shelve which has a tunnel underneath. But why crawl through the tunnel when you can climb the bookshelves instead!!! I was convinced we’d be asked to leave after that one. I quickly picked him up and flung him into the tunnel. Don’t worry I did send Missy in after him to make sure he made it out the other end.
Flushing the toilet 1
Junior has discovered he is strong enough to flush the toilet, I wish Missy would figure this out for herself. With running water being his all-time favourite thing in the world, he just can’t help himself. This week poor Missy was the victim. He didn’t even wait for her to start, let alone finish, and he flushed the toilet with her sitting on the loo. Thankfully I laughed first before she could start crying!!!!
Flushing the toilet 2
Well, flushing the toilet is no fun if you love running water and you’re not the person to benefit from it. So next time Junior just waited till Missy was clear of the toilet, he flushed it and then stuck his hand into the bowl.
Flushing the toilet 3
Just like The Fast and The Furious, I’m pretty sure these will go on forever. The latest in the flushing the toilet series saw Junior flushing it so he can stick his head in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does that count as a hair wash? It was clean water like!!!!
HA after writing all of those I’m pretty sure I have the plots to many, many movies 🙂
So what else can I expect?
